" I’ve been attending SPU for eight months. I came to the church initially because after a long bout of atheism, I slowly started rebuilding my own relationship with spiritually - what that meant for me. From there I felt like I wanted to come back into the church but I was looking for a place that was welcoming to all people. I needed to rectify my sexuality with God. That is what attracted me here. My wife told me that the pastor was gay, and that it was an affirming church. Not a church just willing to take your money, but will affirm you and the way you live. I keep coming because as I’ve started here, I feel more fulfilled and I do feel my relationship with God growing so I keep coming back. My favorite memory so far has been the first time I practiced with the choir, and learned whether I was a soprano or alto. I’ve always wanted to sing and it was really nice to fuse my love of singing with my love of God."
